Hey there people. I am Pete.

I was born in the early sixties in the north of Sweden, where the sun shines all day during summer.
But circumstances took me to Stockholm in 63 and I’ve lived there ever since.
Picked up a guitar for the first time at the age of eight and liked it.

Discovered Black Sabbath in 71 and wanted to play the bass. Here in the early 70s I was formed musically I think. Still like most of the stuff I picked up back then. Rock and Monsters, Monsters and Rock.

Ca 73-74 me and some friends formed a band called THE SMOKERS. We mimed to Sweet, Sabbath, Purple, Uriah Heep etc. Bangin’ it out on tin cans, tennis rackets and bandy sticks. We drew the name on our chests with marker pens that stuck for days.

Formed a KISS lookalike band ca 75. Dressed up in homemade costumes and cardboard guitars we put up a hell of a show, blood, fire, smoke. Got my first bass at 14 and spent a summer working at a gas station to afford an amplifier. Got it, and worked the whole next summer to afford a loudspeaker for my amp.

"Life was groovy’n’easy back in the early seventies. Yeah."

Formed my first real band with friends in 76-77. We called ourselves Staarlitz. We listened to American rock of the mid seventies like Blackfoot, Starz, Trigger, Moxy, Aerosmith etc. We had some gigs at our homes. Had my first real gig in oct 77, we now called ourselves SANTA CRUZ. We played a mix of our own stuff in swedish and english and some covers and played at venues where youths could go after school to hang around (in Swedish, youthfarms). The singer Tommy introduced some new music. Velvet Underground, New York Dolls, Bowie, etc. Wow, this I really liked. Picked up the guitar again.

Quit SANTA CRUZ and formed THE NEW PRIMITIVES with Tommy (gtr), his brother Mådde (bs) and their uncle Pjotr (ds). We examined the world of the eighties, the dark realms of drug related music and powerpop. We could play Heroin by V.U. for 10 minutes and then something poppy by Johnny Thunders Heartbreakers or Wreckless Eric. We played all the rock clubs in Stockholm and a lot of outdoor festivals too. Pjotr quit and Jensa was in. Jensa was a innercity kid with a big drumkit and a lot of groovy friends. The band was now THE PRIMITIVES and the year is -85 and we were a part of the garage rock scene from Solna.

THE PRIMITIVES, all dressed in black, had great old guitars and wrote their own material. Played the rock clubs of Stockholm tons of times and got some following. For a while My and Fanti, two girls joined the band doin’ backing vocals. THE PRIMITIVES lasted until 88. Jensa quit and for a while Buster Broady sat in on the drums.  THE PRIMITIVES cut some demos witch are decent I think.

"THE PRIMITIVES sort of faded away, don’t know what happened."

Anyway…

With former drummer Jensa, his brother Hansa and bassist Perten we formed the band MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET. We played covers by ZZ-top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Georgia Satellites, AC/DC and such. We had a great time. Went to Spain in 89 to play the beachbars but ended up having a fantastic gig in Zaragoza. We had some original songs and renamed the band GREASY SADDLES.

GREASY SADDLES cut an EP in 1989 and played all the local places. Met Linkan who helped us lots of the time playing the keys. GREASY SADDLES kept rocking until 91 when Steve Earle was hot. The band met Christoffer, a singer/songwriter who could his Steve Earle. He was in and I was out.

Me and a couple of friends sat in my apartment, playing guitar and trying to figure out Byrd-harmonies. Had a couple of songs that were kinda power-poppy. Let’s form a band. Heavily influenced by the band Flamin’ Groovies we almost named the band Famous Groupies.

It was me (gtr, vox), Björn (ds, hi-pitched vox), Jörgen (gtr). HEY, we need a bassplayer.

Björn knew Janne Borgh who at the time was playing guitar with  Änglar & Demoner (Angels & Demons) and phoned him. He was about to quit but took his trusted Ric to the rehersalroom. We became LOVE JUNKIES. This was a great time, very creative. We giged a lot and made a famous trip to Malmö where we had lots of fun… (it’s on VCR, but don’t tell anybody). We had something going on, that’s for sure. Ralla joined on acc guitar and vocals, a five piece with four piece vocals.

Me and Jan really connected and when Björn made a bit too big deal of the band we quit and formed Captain Bomb / Jens Bomb with Mats Johansson on the drums. Poor Mats. We were heavy influenced by Captain Beyond and there many difficult beats to master for poor Mats. We wanted to sound like a lot of bands and drew in different directions all the time. Had some gigs but faded slowly away. Jan and I performed as a duo for a year, and when he formed Plastic Soul with Arnie, he asked me to join them...

... so then one day I was in a band called Plastic Soul which became The Repeatles

I consider myself an all eater when it comes to music. Sinatra, Kate Bush, Residents, Cramps, Beatles, Ennio Morricome, Judas Priest are a few of the artists you will find in my shelf. But the BIG WORD is ROCK. ROCK. ROCK. Mellow, hard, beautiful and ugly. It’s all there. I do have a big affection for the sixties, with it’s roughness, playfulness, beauty and fantasy. All the bands that wanted to be the Stones or the Beatles. They all had at least one good song. You gotta love compilations. Music is a never ending journey. Discovering new and old stuff every new day.
